Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) will be one of the first hospitals in Australia to deliver critical diabetes training to teachers and school staff as part of a new national Diabetes in Schools program.
The $6 million program is set to ease the strain of type 1 diabetes on families by helping to ensure that principals, teachers and school staff have the support, training and tools they need to support students with type 1 diabetes at school.
Professor Liz Davis, head of PCH's Endocrinology and Diabetes Department and co-director of the Children's Diabetes Centre at Telethon Kids Institute, said the diabetes team were excited to deliver this great program to help support children living with type 1 diabetes in their school journey.
