New diabetes testing program

Have you seen the recent news about Type1Screen, a free new nationwide program that aims to better detect a child's risk of developing type 1 diabetes?

Early detection of type 1 diabetes can prevent serious health problems and bring about a better prognosis and management of the condition in the longer term.

Type1Screen offers antibody testing to children and young adults to determine if they are at risk of developing the condition.

People who are found to test positive are monitored closely and, if they develop type 1 diabetes, will be started on insulin early to avoid serious illness.

The Children’s Diabetes Centre, an integrated clinic and research centre, is proud to be involved in Type1Screen.
