The first wave of young West Australians with Type 1 Diabetes have been fitted with Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) devices as part of the Federal Government’s fully-subsidised roll-out for eligible people aged 21 and under.
To help ensure the devices are being used correctly, Diabetes WA is providing free ‘start-up’ information and training sessions for families new to CGM, in partnership with PMH.
Diabetes WA education team leader Rebecca Flavel said the first stage of sessions had been a great success.
“We teach them how to insert the device and the child usually will help or get really involved,” she said.
“We then set up the mobile app and teach them about how they will use the new sensor reading to help better manage their diabetes.”

Once PMH has authorised your form and Diabetes WA have received your starter pack, you will be contacted to book into one the start-up sessions.
